Ocean waves provide a clean, reliable source of energy making them viable for desalination, especially in coastal communities and island nations. However, large capital costs render current wave-powered desalination technologies economically infeasible. This work presents configuration ocean-wave-energy-powered batch reverse osmosis. The proposed system uses seawater as the working fluid hydro-mechanical coupling replaces osmosis high-pressure pump with hydraulic converter direct-drive, allowing minimal intermediary power conversions, which leads to fewer parts necessary operation higher efficiencies. concept was analyzed MATLAB Simulink model transient dynamics wave converter, take-off system, load. coupling, incorporating recovery, could achieve an SEC LCOW low 2.30 kWh/m3 $1.96/m3, respectively, different sea states second law efficiency 0.461. results were validated at sub-system level against existing literature on models previous completed models. is first combine these two technologies. values by comparing known predicted various types RO systems.
